Coffee Maker Recalled Because of Burn Hazard
Staff Writer, May 14, 2009
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission recently issued a report about the Bunn-O-Matic Single Cup Pod Brewer. The company received 10 complaints of minor burns from its consumers. According to the report, the pod drawer of the machine can unexpectedly open during the brew cycle, so that the user may possibly become burned.
The Bunn-O-Matic Corp. has issued a voluntary recall for 35,600 of the machines. It involves the MCP and MCA models. They have a black body with a stainless steel backsplash. Consumers are being asked to stop using the product immediately and should contact the company to receive two new replacement drawers.
Bunn-O-Matic can be reached by calling its 800 number or by visiting the firm’s web site. Consumers are encouraged to take measures to make their products safer, so that consumer protection and personal injury lawsuits can be avoided.
