Consumer's Rights

In the United States, the consumer's rights of being treated in a fair, safe, and appropriate manner are honored to the point of legal protection. In fact, consumers are provided with methods of protecting their rights on the homefront directly through the government, using the complaint system that is offered by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state/local consumer protection offices. In terms of unalterable, federal consumer law, there is currently much federal legislation that establishes the rights held by a consumer. According to Truth in Advertising laws, organizations cannot use deceptive or fraudulent advertising to encourage a consumer to purchase a product. Manufacturers and merchants are also held liable for their products, by law, particularly in terms of safety. Consumer's rights also extend to many other areas of business - lending, warranties, contracts, insurance, debt collection, and even identity theft.
