Consumer Complaint Forms

In order to file a complaint, consumers may be required to submit consumer complaint forms to their respective consumer protection office. After filing a form, the agency will have information concerning the complaint in the necessary detail. When filing with the Federal Trade Commission, complaints can be submitting via Internet, using the complaint assistant listed at FTC.gov. When the complaint has been received, it will be stored in the Consumer Sentinel, where it can be accessed by law enforcement official, and will also be investigated. If a non-individual complaint is determined to be of significance, the FTC has the power to take actions of a legal nature against the company in question, including lawsuits and prosecution. Individual complaints submitted on or offline to state/local consumer protection agencies will also undergo similar procedures to reach a resolution. To locate the necessary form to file your complaint, visit FTC.gov or your state's attorney general, who presides over the consumer protection department.
