Consumer Complaint Website

At FTC's consumer complaint website, consumers who have been subjected to unlawful business practices have the ability to report their predicament. By filing complaints, consumers will have their issues investigated, and conclusively ended if mediation is successful. In certain cases, especially non-individual complaints of significance, lawsuits may even be taken up against companies that have shown themselves to be in consistent or multiple violations of consumer law. In addition to the FTC, consumers can also report complaints to the state and local consumer protection offices in their state. Unlike the FTC, the services offered by state and local agencies will extend to all valid complaints, including individual cases. Each case is placed through a process that generally involves investigation, mediation, and arbitration. If a resolution cannot be reached out of court, most consumers will be advised on how to proceed with their case in district court. In serious cases, the attorney general has the right to deliver a cease and desist order and take other further actions within his power.
