Consumer Law Advice

Consumer law advice can be obtained from a number of sources. The first and most knowledgeable source for consumers is, of course, the law itself. By gaining an understanding of the law, consumers can confirm their suspicions that a certain practice was unlawful. For more information on federal and state consumer laws, consumers can view either FTC.gov or USA.gov for official documentation of these laws. It is also advantageous for consumers to contact consumer groups. The Better Business Bureau, Consumer's Union, Consumers International, and other consumer advocacy groups constantly work to advocate the laws, making them authorities on them. By consulting with these and governmental groups, consumers may also be able to take advantage of mediation and other possible resolutions. If it becomes clear that legal action is necessary, consumers can consult with a lawyer regarding the steps involved in a lawsuit.
