Consumer Legal Rights

Whenever an individual enters the market, they become a consumer, thereby being made entitled to certain rights that are granted by law, called consumer legal rights. For consumers, the bulk of these laws come into play when purchasing products or services. According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, consumers who buy products with a warranty must be disclosed about the terms in understandable English. In addition, consumers receive implied warranties under some circumstances when buying products. It has also been made legal for consumers to cancel certain types of contracts that are made within the home, such as a sale made with a door-to-door salesman. In lending, federal legislation such as the Fair Lending Act require that creditors and lenders deliver fair treatment to consumers, that is, without discrimination, with appropriate procedures, and with properly disclosed terms. As a consumer, you also have the legal right to all aspects of your identity, including your credit and personal identifiers.
