A consumer protection complaint is a complaint that can be filed recognizing your consumer protection laws. In a consumer protection complaint, the consumer alleges that another party, either a business or individual, has violated consumer protection law towards them. After a complaint has been filed, investigation will begin to pursue resolution for the consumer. Firstly, the agency will attempt mediation, and if that course of action isn't successful, further action may be taken, such as the consumer taking up a lawsuit in district court. To file a complaint, consumers can contact their state attorney general's office, the FTC, or a private consumer agency. Among private consumer agencies, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) is widely considered to be the most reputable authority for handling complaints and certifying businesses.
