Consumer Protection Service

A consumer protection service may involve one of any number of sources for assistance, ranging from the Federal Trade Commission to private agencies, such as the Better Business Bureau. By law, consumers are provided with certain legal rights. Naturally, as happens with most other laws, consumer law is sometimes violated. The usual action when this occurs is to contact the company involved, such as the merchant, by calling or speaking in person with a customer service representative. When the company's consumer relations department has failed to resolve a violation, a consumer protection service can be contacted for further action to be taken. First, it may be in the best interest of the consumer to call one of consumer protection service hotline's such as the FTC's. If this is still not sufficient, a complaint can be filed, after which mediation or legal action may be necessary if the violation is confirmed unlawful.
