A consumer's rights concerning debt collection are clearly stated in the federal laws of the United States. In essence, these laws ensure that consumers can gain access to credit, which is only appropriate in the current market. C Collectors are limited to contact you at convenient times, which is usually considered as between 8am and 9pm. In terms of contact constraints, collectors also can't contact you at work, and must respect a written request to cease all contact. In an effort to prevent fraud and harassment, the FDCPA prohibits debt collectors to make threats use profanity, make false claims, lie, or utilize any other practice with the intention of deceiving the borrower.
