Consumer Rights Laws

In the United States, consumers receive certain legal rights when they enter into the market as a consumer. These laws, sometimes referred to as consumer rights laws, offer protection throughout various areas of business and trade, the most common of which are lending, purchasing, contracts, credit, and insurance. In any of these areas, there are requirements that must be fulfilled by the seller or service, whether that is an individual or a business. The requirements concerning each area, of course, vary as specified in their respective laws, but they generally recognize similar basic rights for the consumer. Established in 1962, the Consumer Bill of Rights, which can be considered a summary of US consumer protection policy, expands on six basic rights for the consumer - the right to service, the right to education, the right to information, the right to be heard, the right to choose, and the right to safety.
